Abstract

This article describes the universes in which there is solitude, that in so many ways get announced, in the novel Estranhos no Paraíso (2000), by the catarinense writer Oldemar Olsen Jr.. In the context of this novel´s composition, it makes a comparative study with the work As I Lay Dying, by William Faulkner, putting in evidence how the narrator´s voice gets mixed-up to the voices of the protagonist, interlacing to the facts searched in the memory. Then, through the monologues or stream of consciousness in these two novels, that it is possible realizing the presence of the solitude and points in two distinct contexts: the post-modern and the existencialist.
