Abstract

The present article, result of some studies in literary translation, which complement the Master Degree essay called O ritual esotérico no Cancioneiro de Fernando Pessoa, focuses on the reading process in the poem “Eros e Psique”, by Fernando Pessoa himself. Such poem shows, in its superficial structure, many figures that represent a double individual and a double place to be gone through as an initiation ritual, established in the poem epigraph. In this article, we will verify the reading possibilities in two languages: Portuguese, in which the text was written, and French, where there was the rewriting, in other words, its translation, not only linguistic but also cultural. Key Words: Translation; Literary Translation; Fernando Pessoa
