Abstract

The aim of this article is to examine some aspects of Guarani M’Byá territoriality, specifically the Guata, as a Guarani cultural practice that could become a strategy to be valued in the promotion of indigenous health. Guata is the term that, in the Tupi language, defines for the M’Byá, in a simplified way, the set of practices associated with walking and exchanging seeds. This articulates concepts of territory, territoriality, differentiated health care, as well as other related concepts that are commonly used in territorial planning and the social sciences. The qualitative methodology included semi-structured interviews and documentary research. The results showed that the Guata is a category of its own and a fundamental guiding concept to be considered when drawing up and evaluating specific public health policies for the Guarani M’byá in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
