Abstract

This text aims to report observations from field research carried out in the state of Roraima, in the twin cities of Bonfim and Pacaraima, as well as in Lethem (Guyana) and Santa Elena de Uairén (Venezuela). The trip began by road, via the BR-174, covering a distance of approximately 970 km between Manaus (AM) and Pacaraima (RR), on the border with Venezuela. This highway was started in 1967 and completed in 1977, with paving completed in 1998. On the Venezuelan stretch, the route continued along Highway 10 to the city of Santa Elena de Uairén. The stretch between Boa Vista and Bonfim was also travelled along the BR-401. This highway is entirely within the state of Roraima, starting in Boa Vista, at the junction with the BR-174. It provides access to the border with Guyana via the international bridge over the Takutu River. This text consists of three sections: the first presents (trans)border interactions in Roraima; the second records observations in Bonfim (Brazil) and Lethem (Guyana); and the third brings together perceptions about Pacaraima (Brazil) and Santa Elena de Uairén (Venezuela).
