EFFECTS OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON THE WORK OF NURSING PROFESSIONALS

This study analyzed the effects of performance management practices on the social climate at work of nursing professionals and their consequences on job satisfaction and task performance. A survey was used to collect data from nursing professionals. Considering nurses working in public and private hospitals, the questionnaire applied resulted in 86 valid responses. Structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data and measure the variables. The results confirm that performance management practices have a direct positive effect on the social climate of nursing professionals and that social climate has a direct positive effect on job satisfaction and task performance of nursing professionals. In terms of contributions, this study adds knowledge to the literature on performance management practices and individual outcomes, allowing managers to use the findings to improve managerial, operational and situational processes in the workplace.
