Abstract

The objective of this study consisted in evaluating whether Doctors in Accounting in Brazil who present an interdisciplinary curriculum, i.e., those who possess qualification not only in Accounting but also in other areas of knowledge (Economy, Administration, Sociology, etc.), live the research process more intensely than the Doctors qualified solely in Accounting (undergraduation, master's and doctor’s degrees). The study’s data, regarding the doctors' scientific production, were extracted from the Lattes Currícula Vitae of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). After carrying out the data analysis in which statistical tests such as Wilcoxon were used, it has been concluded that the interdisciplinary aspect has not provided advantages or superiority for the scientific production of the analysed samples. However, it has been perceived that the sample of interdisciplinary profile has been more consistent and active throughout the research process (scientific production), which validates a statement that "the inquietudes", that generate research problems, are also constant. Keywords: Interdisciplinarity. Research process. Doctors in Accounting.
