THE INFLUENCE OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INFORMATION SYSTEM ANALYZED BY THE FIBONACCI NUMBERS

The decision of developing and implementing an information system (IS) implies changes in the organization and demands the availability of human, financial and structural resources. Thus, this article describes a methodology of development and implantation of an IS and its relationship with the organizational culture, through the application of the Fibonacci analysis. A qualitative exploratory study, being a case study in a university, has been carried out, having as its analysis object seven programmers and systems analysts. The data analysis consisted in assessment of questionnaires whose results serve as points of reference for procedures used in the development and implantation of information systems to verify the degree of agreement between analysts and programmers throughout the phases approached during the elaboration of an IS. In the questionnaire, the Lickert scale was adopted (TAMAYO, 1998) which attributed weights from 1 to 5 to the subjects’ preferences, using these values and composing a hierarchical matrix. As for the organizational culture, within the context of making a connection with an IS, an explanation of people’s behaviour towards the information technology (IT) and the adoption of an IS has been searched for. Taking into consideration that people are part of an IS, it has been concluded that the culture influences this system, since people generate and use the information of the IS. This process, from the choice of the IT to the form of developing and implanting the IS, needs to be managed also in the light of the organizational culture. Keywords: Information System.
