Abstract

An Environmental Education action was planned and developed together with the community of Rua Emil Wehmuth, located in the Velha Grande neighborhood of Blumenau, with the objective of training community members in observing areas at risk for mudslides in the region. The action realized involved the following activities: illustrative theoretical discourse, environmental educational games and evaluation activities through images of areas of risk of landslides. The course, with an emphasis on the theme of waste, was carried out by Masters’ students from disciplines of Education and Environmental Perception of the Post-Graduate Program in Environmental/FURB Engineering. 24 (twenty-four) people participated in the evaluative activity. A great part of these had identified new factors of risk after completion of the qualification course. The importance of the use of images by the community itself and a neighboring one in the activities and adequate language to the target public of the effectiveness of the course were also evidenced. The activities developed during the action achieved the desired expectations and objectives. They provided learning jointly with educational activities, leading the inhabitants of the locality to be more conscientious on the areas of elevated risk of landslides. Key - Words: Risk.
