Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of regional development. More precisely, the epistemological, theoretical and methodological assumptions related to the production of knowledge to regional development. It argues that the production of knowledge to regional development is reflective, contextual and relational. To develop this argument, the text was divided into five parts: it starts with a brief introduction in which the challenges related to the production of knowledge to regional development are presented; the second part presents the epistemological bases for the production of knowledge to regional development, which we call reflective; the third part focuses on the theoretical assumptions related to the causality of regional development; in the fourth section it seeks to develop the methodological basis of knowledge production to regional development based on a relational model; in the last part was extracted some consequences of epistemological, theoretical and methodological examination on the production of knowledge to regional development.
