Abstract

This paper discusses the role of Constitutional Financing Funds for the regional Brazilian dynamics. It is based on a theoretical perspective and the history of a problematic region in the country, interpreting it as a result of the conflicts which have emerged since its colonial past and its accumulation standard. Both define the role of the country in the international division of labor and its social-spatial organization. A rigid territorial control has been noted, extreme exploitation of the workforce, and public funds display determining vectors in the way Brazilian regions are articulated by the capitalistic accumulating logic. The article is divided into five parts. The first one is the introduction to the paper. The second briefly considers the Brazilian regional problem. The third discusses the regional issue in Brazil and comments on the Federal Constitutions. The fourth analyzes the Constitutional Financing Funds. And the fifth draws conclusions.
