Abstract

Abstract
In a globalised world, international migration flows have distinct characteristics in terms of the factors that condition each population contingent. This article aims to analyse the migration experience of Cuban doctors in the Taquari Valley region, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, since 2014. Focusing on health education, it analyses the experience of Cuban doctors, immigrants, working with immigrant and local populations. The methodology used was based on qualitative approach concepts, with field research. Formal interviews, observations and field diaries were used as data generation techniques. The research subjects were Cuban doctors, international immigrants, local residents, and community health agents. The research results show the capillarisation of the Mais Médicos Programme in the investigated region, including reports of the experience in an area of the city of Lajeado. The analysis sought to understand health education in the researched context, as well as the current situation of the remaining Cuban doctors in the region.
