The purpose of this research is to evaluate the risk-adjusted performance of Brazilian funds that diversify via assets linked to agribusiness. The sample, free from survival bias, was composed of equity funds and multimarket funds, considering the period from January/2017 to March/2023. Using daily data, performance was estimated each quarter based on the Sharpe Ratio. Hypothesis testing was carried out through panel data analysis. Three different classes were used to represent agribusiness-related assets: agricultural commodities, agribusiness-related securities, and shares of agribusiness-related companies. In general, it was observed that funds that have agribusiness-related assets in their portfolios did not necessarily perform better than their peers. It is expected that the results of the study can motivate new research in the area of investment funds and agribusiness-related assets.
Keywords: Diversification; Commodities; Agribusiness.
