Liderança significativa frente as incertezas
a construção de significados durante a pandemia da Covid-19

The objective of this paper is to explore the role of leadership in dealing with uncertainties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is qualitative study, that was executed using in-depth interviews with 25 specialists in organizational leadership and organizational leaders. The creation of meaning, beyond the limits of the organization, emerges as a crucial element to support followers in dealing with uncertainties. The results are summarized in the conceptual model of the meaningful leadership, in which the leader’s role is to create a broader meaning, generate trust, have empathy, and act with flexibility, communicating the constructed meaning in an effective way, with focus on value and form. This study contributes to theory by presenting the conceptual model of meaningful leadership from the perspective of transformational leadership meaning-making, the theory-based view and historical studies of human meaning-making and contribute to practicians by guiding leaders in how to act and support their subordinates during periods of uncertainty. It is suggested in future studies the analysis of meaningful leadership in the face of uncertainties from the perspective of organizational culture and organizational performance.
