The objective of this work is to study the encapsulation technique, also known as solidification/stabilization, in a soil contaminated with industrial residues composed of oily acid sludge. The methodology used was based on column leaching tests, along with chemical analyses of the leached material in samples containing increased amounts of Portland cement CP-V ARI as the encapsulating agent. Results showed that the encapsulation technique proved to be efficient in the reduction of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). However, due to high values of the COD/BOD ratio, it can be affirmed that the leached material possesses a low bio-degradable potential. Key-words: Encapsulation. Contaminated soil. Portland cement.Downloads
